The client a global automotive manufacturer with an on site testing facility, faced significant challenges with their outdated manual system for managing test tracks and a growing number of test drivers, they required a modern, digital solution to streamline their operations and enhance safety measures.
THE CHALLENGE
The existing system, over 40 years old, relied on a manual entry via badge-in barriers and whiteboard tracking of test activities. This manual process not only lacked efficiency but also posed safety concerns as drivers had limited visibility of other activities on the track. The client sought a digital, autonomous system to replace their outdated setup.
OUR APPROACH
Monatrix in collaboration with CBRE proposed a comprehensive digital solution to address the client’s challenges:
– Digital Sign-In System: Introduced a tablet-based sign-in system with visitor management software for streamlined check-in/check out processed and real-time activity tracking.
– Automatic Vehicle Barriers: Replaced outdated barriers with ASUK modern, automatic systems for seamless track access.
– Bespoke Radio Box: Developed a custom lockable box with electronic access control to provide convenient access to two-way radios, enhancing safety measures.
– Kiosk Upgrade: The old rusty kiosk was upgraded to a modern shelter made of galvanized iron and Perspex, providing better rain protection and increased resilience to weather conditions.
– Enhanced Accountability: Installed additional readers on the radio box to ensure drivers swipe their access cards for radio access and return before they can leave the track, enhancing accountability.
– Cloud-based System: The initial system was linked to their main access control, this was upgraded to a Cloud-based access control platform using Avigilon Alta (Motorola Solutions). Since the test track lacked internet access, a 4G router with ample data on the SIM card was used. The system was entirely integrated at the track entrance.
– Occupancy Control: Implemented a feature to limit track access to a maximum of 8 people at a time, ensuring safety and efficiency.
– Safety Compliance: Installed a heavy metal lid with a hydraulic arm on the radio box to meet Health and Safety requirements, ensuring a slow and soft close mechanism.
